In 1973 a purposely lit fire ripped through the inside of a busy Fortitude Valley night club, The Whiskey Au Go Go, with it claiming 15 lives and forever tainting Brisbanes night life.

The crime destroyed the ideal of 'The Valley' being a safe live music scene and it would take thirty years for the veil of sex, drugs and crime to be lifted allowing the area to again draw crouds from around Queensland.
