Joseph C. Marconi was a colourful character and travelling entrepreneur who initiated the production of Australias' own Goanna Oil. A profitable businessman who lived in Bulimba, Marconi was a well know face in the neighbourhood and even took on board the role of Shire Councillor for the Bulimba area. However during the late hours of October 21st 1922, Marconi was to suffer at the hands of a thug playing the role of 'good samaritan'.
