In the Autumn of 1953, Brisbane was abuzz with news of an inner-city burglar who's tools of choice gave him the nickname of The Hacksaw Man. By April 15th, Antrim Parish had successfully broken into 144 businesses, factories and buildings averaging a robbery every second night.
The Hacksaw Man gained notoriety through Brisbane press and the media were often accused of glamourising the criminal. So much so that after The Courier Mail printed an article stating that The Hacksaw Man had quit, the very next night The Hacksaw Man was back.
