After being convicted of murder, Richard Devine (aka Rufus Dawes) is sentenced to the newly established penal colonies of Australia. However after forging a daring escape, Dawes and a group of escapees are forced into cannibalism while trying to survive in the Tasmanian wilderness.

Originally a novel published in the Australian Journal between 1870 and 1872, 'For The Term of His Natural Life' educates audiences on early Australian life and the terrible conditions endured by our founders- convicts. Many adaptions of this novel have hit the big screen; from silent films in the early 20th Century to a television mini-series in the 1980's as well as entertaining audiences via radio.
