Hawthorne Park today is a tranquil and much loved oasis in a rapidly developing riverside suburb. Forty years ago however it was the scene of a brutal murder which has remained unsolved to this day. A friendly local character, retired sea captain William Sturmey was found bashed to death in circumstances which remain mysterious four decades later.
